About
John
John Miller is a passionate countryman, naturalist, and lifelong observer of the British countryside. Raised in a small Oxfordshire village, his deep love for nature took root in childhood, when he was left to roam, a somewhat feral child, where the fields were his playroom.
John’s varied career has taken him across the globe, but his connection to the land and its seasonal rhythms remains the heart of his life and writing. He is a premium writer for Scribehound and a board member of the charities Atlantic Salmon Trust and Curlew Action. He actively supports the introduction of the new GCSE for natural history onto the syllabus, believing education is the key to environmental advocacy.
Through his writing, John encourages readers to enrich their lives by opening their eyes, being curious, and asking the right questions to reconnect with nature. In What’s in a Year…, John blends personal anecdotes on a seasonal journey with contemporary environmental issues and his enthusiasm for field sports, farm-to-fork gardening, and conservation, inviting others to explore
